Joining Our Video Calls
A quick guide to Microsoft Teams for Pack 535 families.
The short version: you do not need a Microsoft account or any software on a computer. Click the meeting link, choose Continue on this browser, type your name, and select Join now.
On a Computer
1. Click the meeting link. A browser tab opens.
2. Choose Continue on this browser. Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome work best.
3. When your browser asks to use your microphone and camera, select Allow. You can still turn both off once you are in.
4. Type your name and select Join now. You may wait briefly in a lobby until someone lets you in.
Already have the Teams app installed? The link will open it automatically, and you can join from there the same way.

On a Phone or Tablet
Phones join through the free Microsoft Teams app. Tap the meeting link, and if the app is not installed yet, your app store will open so you can download it. Then tap the link again, choose Join as a guest, type your name, and join.
Tip: install the app a few minutes before the call so you are not waiting on a download.
Only Have a Meeting ID?
Go to Microsoft's Join a Meeting page, enter the Meeting ID and passcode from the invite, and follow the same steps as above.
Nobody Can Hear Me
1. Check that the Mic button in the meeting does not have a line through it.
2. Check any mute switch on your headset or earbuds.
3. Select the arrow next to Mic and make sure the right microphone is picked.
4. Joining in a browser? Make sure the browser is allowed to use your microphone.
5. Close other video apps like Zoom or FaceTime, then rejoin.

My Camera Is Not Working
1. Check for a privacy cover or shutter over the camera.
2. Close other apps that might be using the camera.
3. Using an external camera? Unplug it and plug it back in.
4. Joining in a browser? Make sure the browser is allowed to use your camera.
5. Still stuck? Restart your device and rejoin.

Want to Blur or Change Your Background?
Completely optional. Before joining, select the video effects button on the setup screen. During a call, go to More actions, then Video effects.
